About
Christopher Helms has been practicing criminal law on the Grand Strand since graduating from Liberty University School of Law in 2011. He began his career as a defense attorney working first in the private sector and then spending the next three years as a criminal trial attorney for the 15th Circuit Public Defender, where he spent his summers as an intern. Here he represented thousands of individuals charged with everything from traffic infractions to murder. From there he went on to become a prosecutor for Horry and Georgetown Counties. During the next eight years Mr. Helms served as one of this Circuit’s top violent crimes prosecutors, during which he represented the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and the State of South Carolina in many high-profile felony trials.
Chris is licensed to practice in all South Carolina State and Federal Courts and focuses the vast majority of his practice primarily on Criminal and DUI Defense. He uses the knowledge that he has acquired over the years, as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, to assist those who find themselves charged with violating South Carolina law(s). He knows what it takes for the State to build a successful case and can help find the potential weaknesses as well to aid in your defense. His reputation as a fierce advocate in an out of the courtroom can be an advantage whether you intend to negotiate a plea agreement, or take your case to a jury trial.
